How are the kids?

A few questions I keep hearing are: What will you guys be doing in Africa? Where will you be living? What will the kids be doing for school? How are the kids feeling about this?
As I tackle these questions, one of the important things to remember is that we have "our plans" or "our understanding of what we think is going to happen" and then there's God's plan, which we invite to rule over and of course will ultimately supersede our plans.
Here's what's been revealed to us to date about some of the more common questions we've been asked. First off, what will we be doing in Africa? Well, the short answer is: I don't know. The longer answer is, we will be giving our time and talents to further the work that God has been doing with Hands at Work in Africa. It helps to have some context as I copy and paste one of the most important pieces of the mission of Hands.
"Central to the vision (of Hands at Work), is seeing the local church actively involved in caring for the most vulnerable children within their own communities. The approach is two-fold. Firstly, Hands at Work invests and equips volunteers from local churches, known as Care Workers, to serve the children in their community. And secondly, we invest in local church leaders to grow in their understanding of the Biblical mandate to care for the most vulnerable."
So in following that vision, after we spend some time getting to know the communities that we will be serving, Eric will most likely be using some of his handyman skills, and I will most likely get to help with the communications team, encourage care workers, help kiddos, and Lord knows what else.
More in-depth vision and priorities of this organization can be found at their website here: https://www.handsatwork.org/our-model
Where will we be living? The plan is for us to live at the hands hub near White River, which is in the Mpumalanga region in South Africa. If you plan to come visit us (which would be so cool) you'll probably want to check out Kruger National Park nearby and visit all of the cool safari land. https://www.google.com/maps/place/White+River,+1240,+South+Africa/@-25.3343086,31.0136139,13z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x1ee8317126d02517:0xba1d3de47a6e6f1b!8m2!3d-25.3299288!4d31.0163079!16zL20vMDU1Y2J2
What will the kids be doing for school?
Well, we applied to one school and they were full for the 3rd grade, so our second application has just been accepted to another school and the kids will all be enrolled and attending in person classes for Kindergarten, Third, and Sixth grades.
How are the kids feeling about moving?
Here they are to tell you just that

Thanks for updating. I'm just catching up to everything. Zac's face when you told him there were snakes everywhere (even in America) 🤣
Tali, you're a wonderful, kind and beautiful soul. God has blessed you in many ways and I would be very surprised if you didn't make any new friends in Africa. Also there are ways to keep in touch with your friends here in CA as well! We'll be praying and thinking of y'all often! Beth, going to school can feel like a big change. But change is not always a bad thing! 😍 Sending love and prayers to you all.
